" BLUE MONDAY "

I really like this poem and thought I would share it with all of you on
"BLUE MONDAY "

GRAY BLUE SKY by JOSETTE KEY

On a lonely hill
Stands a lonely house
Under a gray blue sky.

An empty shell of what used to be
A reminder of days gone by.

It's walls once housed a family with love
It's roof kept them safe and dry
It's windows shown with the bright morning sun
As they watched the world go by.

If ever you pass this lonely house
Stop a minute and think
Of all the lives and all the love
That's passed through this lonely place
And remember with awe how life must have been
Under a gray blue sky.

  2. Beautiful blue landscape. The poem reminds me of the current houseing market, lots of sad lonely homes sitting empty! Good thing I scrolled down to the pink ice cream! That made me feel a lot better.

  5. O, I love this poem. So many times as I've passed abandoned houses, I've thought along these very lines...wondering who had lived there, what their lives had been like. Thanks for sharing!

  6. Lovely blue landscape you shared, and the poem makes me think about houses I've seen all through the Deep South. I think of one photogrpaher in particular who photographs structures like that, but he also photographs churches that have been abandonned. It would seem that if you left a building and moved to a new one or just left the building unattended. I do stop and think, and it always bothers me. We've rescued a number of old houses, so this really hits close to home wiht me.

    Happy Blue Monday!

    XO,

    Sheila :-)

  7. Oops! I left part of a sentence out. I was saying that if you left a building unattended or moved, I would think that you would take the things out (like books or pianos), but I guess with old church buildings, they feel they belong to the Lord. But I've seen houses abandonned with furniture, though more often than not, it's picked clean.

  8. A very lovely poem. Thanks for sharing it with us. And the beautiful blue photo too. I see old abandoned houses in the country around here and wonder about their past. Lots of stories there I'll bet.

  9. It is a beautiful poem. I am always looking at old houses and wonder about the lives of all the people that lived there . I always loved that program on the Home and Garden channel, If Walls Could Talk.
The blue landscape behind the poem was lovely.
